DIY WEDDING - BIRMINGHAM

When Laura and Martin first got in touch with me about their DIY wedding in Birmingham, I was buzzing with excitement as they sounded super fun & ovely. They were planning a really fun, total DIY wedding with an intimate ceremony, homemade picnic baskets for dinner and a cocktail bar. Right up my street! Laura and Martin are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Getting ready

I turned up at Lauras house, where the bride, her besties and her family were getting ready. It was super relaxed and chilled because all the girls were there drinking fizz and getting hair & make up done, great stat to the day. Laura wore a stunning vintage dress from Lou Lou Bridal along with some awesome Charlotte Mills shoes. Martin & his groomsmen wore beautiful grey suits and they looked so incredible together.

The ceremony

The wedding took place at Lightwoods House & Park in Birmingham. They had a beautiful legal ceremony in the main room of the house. They had personal vows they wrote themselves, which brought pretty much everyone to tears. After the ceremony they were showered with a colour bomb of confetti, and then the party began.

The party

The wedding reception took place in marquee in the garden of Lightwoods, it was such a windy day we thought the marquee was going to take off! Laura & her family handmade all pompoms, lanterns & bunting. They decorated the marquee and it looked incredible! It was absolutely gorgeous to see all the colours dancing around the marquee in the wind. Lauras maid of honour made the cake, the Mother of the Groom made the chutney to accompany the delicious picnic hampers agin, all homemade.

It was a windy stormy day, but the rain held off which is great. While the guests enjoyed the bar snacks and cocktails, we wandered around the venue doing fun and creative portraits.

Here’s a few of my favourites from their DIY wedding at Lightwoods House. Thanks so much for having x
